"Is it safe to make credit card purchases at the Bears In The
Woods Products online store?" Yes, it is safe. When
you add an item to your shopping cart and enter the"CHECKOUT"
page, you have entered the secure server. A box will come up indicating
you are in a secure area. In Netscape, the little lock icon will appear
locked. If you go up the the View menu and click on "Page Info",
a box will come up telling you our Verisign certificate information.
At various points throughout the website, boxes may come up in your
browser indicating "Not Secure Areas". These are related
to the version of browser you have (how new and up-to-date it is,
in either Netscape or Explorer). These are not a cause for worry.
The area of concern for security is the place where you enter in your
credit card number, and that area is safe (see paragraph above this
one). If you are still concerned about these occasional boxes that
come up, talk to your Internet Service Provider, or go to the Microsoft
or Netscape
sites to download the latest browsers.
We realize that some of our customers won't feel comfortable using
their credit cards online no matter what security is in evidence.
Therefore, we have an alternative: simply click on the "To
Order By Check" link on our Home
page and you can print out an order form, fill it out and mail in
a check.
Thanks for coming to Bears In The Woods Products. Happy shopping!
